I Scream For Ice Cream!
Today is officially the first day of summer, and I love all that comes along with long hot summer days. Think about it, swimming, grilling, playing outside, and of course, ice cream. A cold delicious treat on a hot day surely makes me happy. Plus when you’re having people over to enjoy the fun summer days with, there is nothing more fun than an ice cream party or social. That’s right, I invite people over just to hang out and enjoy the best summer treat out there. Good news is that no matter the size of ice cream event that you are hosting, it is fairly easy to put it all together.
Savor the Flavors – Sometimes people spend way too much time and energy on deciding the flavors that they should feature at their ice cream party. It can seem overwhelming when you are trying to choose flavors for a group of people that you probably don’t eat ice cream with all the time. Make it a point to include the classics, as well as, some non-dairy options, and you should be safe. Classics like vanilla and chocolate are must have flavors, and then don’t forget about maybe featuring a strawberry flavor also. Generally, I will also have a flavor with some type of nut too. Getting a couple flavors of sorbet will ensure that if you have any friends who choose not to eat dairy or who do not get along well with dairy they can still partake in the tasty fun.
Top it Off – The best part about having a party with ice cream being the main event, in my opinion, is topping off your treat with fun toppings. This is exciting for kids and adults alike. The choices of the toppings that you will choose should be based on your guest list. If this is more of a gathering of little ones, then look for toppings that are fun and colorful. Gummy bears, sprinkles in different shapes and sizes, small versions of favorite chocolate candies, and more are great options. Keep the choices open so that even picky eaters can find some cool stuff to top off their ice cream. Adult only ice cream socials can incorporate toppings with alcohol or caffeine, and also some that are not so common.
